Medical University of Bialystok is a renowned, dynamically expanding institution of higher education, distinguished among Polish academic centers. The seat of the Medical University of Bialystok is in the 18th century Branicki Palace, located in the center of Bialystok. It is surrounded by the University`s academic facilities, two clinical hospitals, dormitories and sport facilities.
The University obtained the right to confer the Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in 1951. For over 60 years now, the University has trained professional medical staff. Currently, about 5000 students study in 15 medical fields, including almost 400 students in English Division. Foreign students come from all over the world: Norway, Sweden, USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, Saudi Arabia just to name a few. The number of 115 titular professors and 153 associate professors for almost 800 academic teachers, gives one of the highest ratio and places the University at the forefront of all universities in Poland.
In July 2012 in the first edition of a contest announced by the Polish Ministry of Higher Education, the Centre for Innovative Research of the Medical University of Bialystok was awarded the status of the Leading National Research Centre 2012-2017 and in 2013, the Centre for Innovative Research won the title of Podlasie Brand of the Year.
In September 2012 in the parametric evaluation conducted by the Polish Ministry of Higher Education, the Faculty of Pharmacy with the Division of Laboratory Medicine received a prestigious category 鈥淎+鈥 as the best research institution in the field of life sciences, while the Faculty of Medicine with the Division of Dentistry and Division of Medical Education in English as well as the Faculty of Health Sciences received category 鈥淎鈥.
We unceasingly invest in improving our academic and research facilities. In October 2011, two new centers were opened for academic use: The Euroregional Center of Pharmacy, and The Academic and Research Center of the Faculty of Health Science. In 2013, clinical facilities were expanded by acquiring two regional hospitals and merging them with the Medical University of Bialystok Clinic Hospital.
In order to qualify to attend the Medical University of Bialystok each candidate must complete the official admission process via an online registration system. Within approximately 2 weeks, Qualification Committee will gather and evaluate applications. Candidates, which documents are positively considered, will be given Promissory Letter of Enrollment. POE stands for conditional enrollment, and entitle to take an interview. After successful passing the interview, candidates who qualified must deliver all required documents - originals or true certified copies.
On campus accommodation for students who are non-residents of Bialystok is provided in two dormitories. Highly quality, furnished, single rooms are available for English Division students, with high-speed internet and telephone access available for a monthly fee. Each dormitory floor also contains a spacious common area, kitchen, and laundry facilities.
The Medical University of Bialystok is situated in a region of outstanding tourist attractions. The region of Podlasie is home to various nationalities, languages, religions, traditions and cuisines. It is also the area exceptional for its nature, as there are four national parks, three landscape parks and almost 90 nature reserves, which together form the area known as the Green Lungs of Poland.
